Choosing the right image tool

Image Tools cover the jobs people most often open a photo editor for: shrinking a picture in KB for an upload form, changing its format, resizing, cropping, turning, marking, picking colours and making passport and exam photos at an exact size. Choose by what the form or website checks. A maximum file size such as 50 KB needs Compress Image; a width and height in pixels needs Image Resizer; a particular format needs Image Converter or, for iPhone photos, HEIC to JPG; a Photoshop file you cannot open needs PSD to PNG. Which image tool should I use for an exam application form?

Use the Exam Photo and Signature Resizer. Exam forms set both a file size range in KB and a pixel size, and the resizer meets both, with built-in limits for SSC, UPSC, IBPS and NTA exams and custom limits for any other form.

What is the difference between compressing and resizing an image?

Compressing lowers the file size in KB by storing the picture more efficiently, and can keep the same width and height. Resizing changes the width and height in pixels, which also makes the file smaller. A KB limit needs compression; a pixel size needs resizing.

Are my photos uploaded when I use these image tools?

No. Every image tool on FreeMicroTools works inside your browser, so photos, signatures and ID pictures never leave your device and nothing is stored. The only exception is Screenshot to Link, and only when you press Get link: the screenshot you chose to share is stored for 7 days so its link works, then deleted.
