How it works
JPG to PNG Converter is a web page that does its work on your own device. The file you choose is opened by your browser, changed there and saved from there; it is never sent to a server, so there is no copy of it anywhere to delete, no queue and no waiting for an upload. Most online tools of this kind send your file to their servers and work on it there, and many keep it for a while. This one does not. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it, and the result downloads the moment it is ready.
Will it make the background transparent?
No. A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG has the same solid background. Converting changes the file type; removing a background is a separate job.
Why is the PNG larger?
PNG keeps every pixel without compressing detail away, so a photo saved as PNG usually takes several times the space of the JPG.
Questions
Does JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. It keeps the picture exactly as it is in the JPG, and it stops further loss when you edit and save again, but it cannot restore detail the JPG already lost.
Does converting JPG to PNG make the background transparent?
No. JPG images have no transparent areas, so the PNG keeps the same background.
Is JPEG the same as JPG?
Yes. JPG and JPEG are two spellings of the same format, and both are converted here.
