How to use JFIF to JPG Converter

Takes about 1 minute. You need JFIF images.

  1. Choose your JFIF imagesPress Choose images or drop your JFIF files into the box. You can add many at once.
  2. Convert to JPGJPG is already chosen, so each image is converted as soon as it is added. JFIF files keep their original quality and simply get the .jpg ending.
  3. DownloadPress Download beside an image, or Download all (ZIP) to save the whole batch.
Image Converter: Convert images between JPG, PNG and WebP, many at once, without uploading.

Images saved from a browser on Windows sometimes end in .jfif, and many upload forms and apps refuse that ending. A JFIF file already is a JPEG image, so nothing needs to be compressed again: this page gives each file the standard .jpg ending and keeps the picture exactly as it was. Drop in one file or a batch and download them singly or as a ZIP. Your images are handled in your browser and never uploaded.

How it works

JFIF to JPG Converter is a web page that does its work on your own device. The file you choose is opened by your browser, changed there and saved from there; it is never sent to a server, so there is no copy of it anywhere to delete, no queue and no waiting for an upload. Most online tools of this kind send your file to their servers and work on it there, and many keep it for a while. This one does not. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it, and the result downloads the moment it is ready.

What is a JFIF file?

JFIF is the usual way JPEG images are stored. Windows sometimes saves such images with a .jfif ending instead of .jpg, which makes some websites reject them even though the picture inside is an ordinary JPEG.

Why there is no quality change

Because the image inside is already a JPEG, the converter keeps the original data and only changes the file ending. The quality slider applies only if you choose PNG or WebP instead.

Questions

Is JFIF the same as JPG?

Yes, the image inside is a JPEG. Only the file ending differs, which is why the conversion loses no quality.

Can I just rename .jfif to .jpg?

Usually, yes. This page does the same thing for many files at once, and checks that each one really opens as an image.

Why does Windows save images as JFIF?

A Windows setting sometimes maps JPEG images to the .jfif ending when you save them from a browser. New files may keep arriving as .jfif until that setting changes.

Can I convert JFIF to PNG?

Yes. Choose PNG in the tool and the image is saved as a PNG.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device.
