About the video tools

Video Tools on FreeMicroTools help with video you are allowed to keep, without installing an app or creating an account. The Twitter & X Video Downloader saves the videos and GIFs attached to a post on X as MP4 files, in every quality X stores, up to 1080p when the video has it, on iPhone, Android, Mac or Windows.

The downloader is strictly for personal use: your own videos, or videos whose owner has given you permission. It asks X which videos are in the post, and the video file downloads directly from X to your device, so it never passes through our server and nothing is stored. Rights holders can ask for a post to be blocked through the copyright page.

Use it when you have the link to a single post. Videos from private or protected accounts, Spaces audio and live broadcasts cannot be saved. Compressing and trimming video and saving the sound as MP3 are on the roadmap, because they need more computing power than a browser offers.

Questions

Which videos can I download with the X video downloader?

Only videos you made yourself, or videos whose owner has given you permission, and only for your own personal use. Downloading a video does not give you the right to re-upload, share or sell it.

Why can a video from a private account not be downloaded?

Videos from private or protected accounts are not available to the public, so the downloader cannot look them up, and it must not be used to take content that is not public.

Can I compress or trim a video on FreeMicroTools?

Not yet. Compress Video, Trim Video and MP4 to MP3 are on the FreeMicroTools roadmap. They need our own servers, because processing video takes more computing power than a browser offers.
