A free online Twitter video downloader, strictly for personal use: save your own videos, or videos you have the owner's permission to download. Paste the link to the post, pick a quality, and get a normal MP4 file. It works in the browser on iPhone, Android, Mac and PC, with no app to install and no watermark added. The video comes straight from X's servers to your device and is never stored by us.

How to download a Twitter video

  1. Open the post on X. On a phone, tap Share and then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address from the browser bar — it ends in /status/ and a long number.
  2. Paste the link into the box at the top of this page.
  3. Tick the box confirming the video is your own or you have permission, then press Get video.
  4. Pick a quality and press Download. The video saves as an MP4 file.

That is the whole process: a free online Twitter video downloader that lets you download X videos without an app, an account or a watermark. It works as a tweet video downloader for any public post, and links from twitter.com work exactly the same as links from x.com, including old ones saved before the rename.

Strictly for personal use

This tool is for downloading your own videos, or videos you have the owner's permission to download, for your own personal use. It is not for taking other people's content.

  • Do not download videos you do not own or have permission to download.
  • Do not re-upload, share, sell or use anyone else's video without their permission.
  • A video being public on X does not give you any right to copy or reuse it.

By using this tool you confirm that you have the right to download each video, and you accept full responsibility for what you download and how you use it. FreeMicroTools does not host, store or distribute any of these videos, and is not affiliated with X Corp. If you believe your content is being misused, contact us through the contact page.

Save X videos on iPhone, Android, Mac or PC

This Twitter downloader runs in the browser you already have, so the steps to save Twitter videos are nearly the same on every device.

iPhone and iPad

Use Safari. After you tap Download, the video opens in Safari's viewer: tap the share icon and choose Save Video to add it to Photos, or Save to Files to keep it in the Files app. No app from the App Store is needed.

Android

Use Chrome, Samsung Internet or Firefox. The MP4 goes to your Downloads folder and shows up in Google Photos or your gallery app a moment later.

Mac and Windows PC

Any current browser works. The file lands in your usual Downloads folder, named after the account and the post so it is easy to find later.

Twitter to MP4 in HD

X keeps each video at several sizes, and this X video downloader lists every one with its resolution and exact file size, highest quality first. Recent videos usually go up to 720p HD or 1080p Full HD. The first option is the sharpest; 720p is the sensible choice for sending in a chat or keeping a copy on your phone, at a fraction of the size. You always get the original file X stores — nothing is re-encoded, so there is no loss in quality.

Download GIFs from Twitter

GIFs on X are really short videos, so the Twitter GIF downloader gives you an MP4. It is smaller than a traditional GIF, looks sharper, and loops in every modern player, chat app and video editor.

Where the video actually comes from

When you press Get video, our server asks X which videos are in that post. That answer is tiny — a list of files and sizes. When you press Download, your browser fetches the file directly from X's own video servers, which is why it is fast. It does not pass through ours, we never hold a copy, and the link you pasted is not saved.

What it does

  • Twitter to MP4 in every quality X stores, up to HD 1080p when the video has it
  • Download GIFs from Twitter as MP4 files that loop anywhere
  • No watermark added, no app or extension to install, no account
  • Works on iPhone, Android, Mac and Windows in any modern browser
  • Exact file size shown before you download
  • Handles x.com and twitter.com links, posts with several videos, and quoted posts

Questions

Which videos am I allowed to download?

Only videos you made yourself, or videos whose owner has given you permission to download them - and only for your own personal use. This tool is not for downloading other people's content. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to download anything you save with it.

Can I re-upload, share or sell a video I downloaded?

Not unless it is your own video or you have the owner's permission to do exactly that. Downloading a video does not give you any rights to it. Re-posting or selling someone else's work without permission can infringe their copyright.

How do I download a Twitter video?

Open the post on X, tap Share, then Copy link. Paste the link into the box above, tick the personal-use confirmation, press Get video, and choose a quality. The MP4 file saves to your device.

Is this Twitter video downloader free?

Yes. There is no charge, no sign-up, and no limit on quality. To keep it fast for everyone, each connection can make a limited number of lookups per hour.

Can I download Twitter videos in 1080p, HD or 4K?

You get every quality X has stored for that video, and the highest is listed first. Most recent videos go up to 720p or 1080p. If X stores a higher quality, it appears in the list; we cannot create a quality that X does not have.

Is there a watermark on the video?

No. The file is exactly what X stores. We do not add a watermark, a logo or anything else.

Do I need an app or a browser extension?

No. This is an online downloader that works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge on phone and computer. There is nothing to install.

How do I download Twitter videos on iPhone?

Copy the post's link in the X app, open this page in Safari, paste it and press Get video. Tap Download, then tap the share icon on the video and choose Save Video to put it in your Photos, or Save to Files.

How do I download Twitter videos on Android?

Copy the post's link in the X app, open this page in Chrome, paste it and press Get video, then tap Download. The MP4 goes to your Downloads folder and appears in your gallery app.

Can I convert a Twitter video to MP3 or download only the audio?

Not directly. X stores videos with the sound built in, so the MP4 you download already includes the audio. Most phones and video editors can export just the sound from that file.

Can I download GIFs from Twitter?

Yes. X stores GIFs as short MP4 videos, so you get an MP4 that plays and loops in any modern player or chat app.

Can I download Twitter Spaces or live broadcasts?

No. This tool downloads videos and GIFs attached to posts. Spaces audio and live broadcasts are not supported.

Can I download several videos at once?

If one post has several videos, each is listed and can be downloaded. Bulk downloading across many posts is not supported.

Can I download a video from a private account?

No. Videos from private or protected accounts cannot be downloaded, and this tool must not be used to take content that someone has not made public. Age-restricted and deleted posts will not work either.

Does the video go through your server?

No. Our server only asks X which videos are in the post, which is a few kilobytes of information. The video file downloads directly from X to your device, and nothing is kept.

Is this made by X or Twitter?

No. X and Twitter are trademarks of X Corp. This tool is not created, endorsed by, or affiliated with X Corp.

It stopped working. Why?

X changes how its site works from time to time, and tools like this one have to catch up. If a link that should work does not, use the support page to tell us and we will fix it.
