How to use Add Watermark to Image

Takes about 2 minutes. You need one or more photos, and a logo file if you want a logo rather than text.

  1. Choose your imagesPress Choose images or drop them into the box. They open in your browser and are not uploaded.
  2. Set the watermarkType the text, or choose Logo and pick the file. Move the Size, Opacity, Angle and Margin sliders, pick a position on the grid or press Repeat across the picture, and watch the preview.
  3. DownloadPress Download on an image, or Download all (ZIP) for every image. Choose Save as first if you want a different format.
Add Watermark to Image: Put your name or logo on photos, in a corner or repeated across the picture, without uploading them.

Drop in one photo or a hundred, type your name or website or choose a logo, and see it on the picture as you move the sliders: size as a share of the width, opacity, angle and margin, in any of nine positions or repeated across the whole picture. The same mark goes on every image at the same relative size, whatever their pixel sizes. Download each image or all of them in a ZIP, as the original format or as JPG, PNG or WebP. Everything happens in your browser, so the photos and the logo are never uploaded.

How it works

Add Watermark to Image is a web page that does its work on your own device. The file you choose is opened by your browser, changed there and saved from there; it is never sent to a server, so there is no copy of it anywhere to delete, no queue and no waiting for an upload. Most online tools of this kind send your file to their servers and work on it there, and many keep it for a while. This one does not. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it, and the result downloads the moment it is ready.

Straight to one job

A watermark that protects without spoiling

  • Keep it light. Around 50 to 60 percent opacity in white or a pale colour is read easily and still lets the picture show through. A solid black stamp at full strength says more about the mark than the photo.
  • Corners are removed, tiles are not. A single mark in a corner is easy to crop off. Repeat across the picture, at a slight angle and low opacity, covers the whole image and is what stock photo sites do for a reason.
  • Size by the picture, not in pixels. The size here is a share of the image width, so the same setting gives the same look on a phone snap and a camera file. About a quarter of the width suits a name; a logo often needs less.
  • Say who, and how to reach you. A name or a website address does more than a copyright sign alone: someone who wants to license the picture can find you.

Logos

A PNG or SVG with a transparent background works best, because the shape of the logo lands on the photo without a box around it. A JPG logo brings its white background with it; lower the opacity so it fades in, or export the logo with transparency first. The Soft shadow choice applies to text only; a logo is placed exactly as it is.

What this tool does not do

  • It does not embed an invisible or forensic mark. The mark is visible and can be painted over by someone who tries hard enough; the aim is to make casual reuse obvious, not impossible.
  • It does not resize or compress. Save the marked copies, then use Image Resizer or Compress Image if the files must also be smaller.
  • It does not keep the hidden details a phone writes into a photo, such as where it was taken. The saved picture is a fresh file with none of them, which is usually what you want before publishing.

What it does

  • Text or a logo (PNG or SVG with transparency), sized as a share of each picture's width
  • Nine positions, or repeated in a staggered pattern across the whole picture
  • Opacity, angle, margin, colour, four text styles and a soft shadow
  • One image or a whole batch, with a live preview of any image in it
  • Download each image, or all of them in one ZIP
  • Save as the original format, or as JPG, PNG or WebP
  • Nothing is uploaded, and the images are not resized or recompressed beyond the format you choose

Questions

Are my photos or my logo uploaded?

No. The photos and the logo are opened, marked and saved by your browser on your own device. They are never sent to us or to anyone else, and nothing is stored.

How do I watermark many photos at once?

Choose them all together, or press Add more. The same mark, at the same share of the width, goes on every image. Press Show on any row to preview that image, then Download all (ZIP) for the whole batch.

Should I use a corner or repeat the mark?

A corner mark is discreet and fine for social posts and portfolios, but easy to crop off. Repeat across the picture at a low opacity when the photo must not be reused, for example previews sent to a client before payment.

Why is the size a percentage?

So the mark looks the same on every photo in a batch. A 2,000 pixel phone photo and a 6,000 pixel camera file get a mark that covers the same share of the picture, rather than a fixed 200 pixels that vanishes on the large one.

My logo has a white box around it. Why?

The logo file has a white background rather than a transparent one. Export it as a PNG or SVG with transparency and choose it again, or lower the opacity so the box fades into the picture.

Does it lower the picture quality?

The pixels are copied as they are and the mark is drawn on top. Saving as JPG or WebP re-encodes the picture, which at the default quality of 92 is not visible; choose PNG when nothing may change.

Can a watermark be removed?

A visible mark can be painted over by someone who tries hard enough, and a small corner mark can simply be cropped off. Repeating the mark across the picture makes that far more work. No visible watermark is impossible to remove.

Can I add a watermark to a PDF?

Use Add Watermark to PDF, which puts text on every page without redrawing them.

Is it free?

Yes, completely free, with no sign-up and no limit, and we add no mark of our own.
