How much smaller the MP3 will be
CD-quality stereo WAV uses about 10.6 MB for every minute. The same minute takes about 2.4 MB as a 320 kbps MP3, 1.4 MB at 192 kbps and 1 MB at 128 kbps, so a 50 MB song becomes roughly 5 to 11 MB.
Keep the WAV for editing

What bitrate should I use to convert WAV to MP3?
Use 320 kbps if the recording is music you care about, 192 kbps for everyday listening, and 128 kbps for voice recordings, lectures and podcasts, where it sounds clear at the smallest size.
Does WAV to MP3 lose quality?
MP3 leaves out sound detail that is hard to hear in order to make the file smaller. At 320 kbps the difference is very hard to hear; at 128 kbps music can lose some sparkle. Keep the WAV if you may need the full quality later.
Is the sample rate kept?
Yes, for 44.1 and 48 kHz WAV files. MP3 goes up to 48 kHz, so higher-rate studio files are saved at 48 or 44.1 kHz.
Can I convert 24-bit WAV files?
