The page starts with 18/24. The greatest common factor of 18 and 24 is 6, and dividing both by it gives 3/4, which is 0.75 or 75%. Type any fraction or mixed number, however large; the arithmetic is exact.

    How it works

Simplify Fractions Calculator is a web page that does its work on your own device. Everything you type or choose is worked out by your browser and never sent to a server, so nothing is stored and there is nothing to delete. There is no account, no sign-up and no limit on how often you use it.

    Finding the greatest common factor

Divide the larger number by the smaller and keep the remainder; repeat with the smaller number and the remainder until the remainder is 0. The last number you divided by is the greatest common factor: 24 ÷ 18 leaves 6, and 18 ÷ 6 leaves 0, so it is 6.
