How to use Resize PDF Pages
- Choose your PDFPress Choose a PDF file or drop the PDF into the box. It opens in your browser and is not uploaded; the size it has now is shown.
- Pick the new sizeChoose A4, Letter or another size, decide whether the content should fit, fill or keep its size, and check page 1 in the preview.
- Resize and savePress Resize PDF. The new file downloads; your original is not changed.
Drop in a PDF, choose the page size it should have, A4, Letter, Legal, A3, A5, B5, Tabloid, Executive or your own measurements, and download it with every page on that sheet. The content is scaled to fit the new page, scaled to fill it, or kept at its size and centred, with an optional margin, and each page can keep its own orientation. Pages are redrawn as vector content, so text and lines stay sharp at any scale. A preview shows page 1 on the new sheet before you save. Everything happens in your browser, so the PDF is never uploaded.
How it works
Resize PDF Pages is a web page that does its work on your own device. The file you choose is opened by your browser, changed there and saved from there; it is never sent to a server, so there is no copy of it anywhere to delete, no queue and no waiting for an upload. Most online tools of this kind send your file to their servers and work on it there, and many keep it for a while. This one does not. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it, and the result downloads the moment it is ready.

Fit, fill or keep
Scale to fit is right nearly always: the whole page is scaled until it fits the new sheet, keeping its proportions, so a Letter page on A4 gets a little white space at the sides and an A4 page on Letter gets a little at the top and bottom. Nothing is lost. Scale to fill does the opposite: the page is enlarged until it covers the sheet and whatever hangs over the edge is cut, which suits full-bleed artwork and photos but not documents with text near the margins. Keep its size moves the content onto the new sheet without scaling it, centred: a form that must stay at its printed dimensions, or an A5 booklet page placed on A4 to print with a border. A page larger than the new sheet is cut at the edges in this mode.
A4 and Letter
A4 is 210 by 297 mm and is used almost everywhere; Letter is 8.5 by 11 inches (216 by 279 mm) and is used in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Philippines. A4 is narrower and taller, so a document made for one prints on the other with the content shrunk by about 6 percent and a small strip of white space, which is exactly what this tool does. Sending a file in the reader's own size avoids the printer doing that scaling, or refusing to.
Sharpness and what is kept
Each page is placed on its new sheet as vector content: text is still text, lines are still lines, and everything scales without blur. Pictures inside the page keep their original pixels. What does not carry over is the layer of interactive things attached to the old pages: links, bookmarks, form fields and comments are left behind, because they are tied to positions on the old sheet. If you need those, resize before adding them, or keep the original alongside.
What this tool does not do
- It does not reduce the file size. Scaling a page changes its dimensions, not the data inside it; use Compress PDF for that.
- It does not put several pages on one sheet or split a page in two.
- It does not open password-protected PDFs. Remove the password first.
What it does
- A4, Letter, Legal, A3, A5, B5, Tabloid, Executive or a custom size in mm or inches
- Scale to fit, scale to fill, or keep the content at its size and centre it
- Each page keeps its own orientation, or force portrait or landscape
- An optional margin around the content
- Text stays sharp: pages are placed as vectors, not turned into pictures
- A preview of page 1 on the new sheet, and the size of the pages you have now
- Your file never leaves your device
Questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The PDF is opened and rebuilt by your browser on your own device. It is never sent to us or to anyone else, and nothing is stored.
How do I convert a PDF from Letter to A4?
Drop the PDF in, choose A4 under New page size, leave Scale to fit and Match each page selected, and press Resize PDF. Letter is a little wider and shorter than A4, so the content is scaled by about 94 percent and a small white strip appears at the top and bottom. For A4 to Letter, choose Letter instead.
Will the text stay sharp?
Yes. Each page is placed on the new sheet as vector content, so text, lines and shapes scale without blur and the text can still be selected and searched. Pictures keep their original pixels.
What is the difference between fit and fill?
Fit scales the page until the whole of it is inside the new sheet, which can leave white space along two edges. Fill scales it until it covers the sheet, which can cut the edges off. Keep its size does not scale at all and centres the page.
Do links and form fields survive?
No. Links, bookmarks, form fields and comments are tied to positions on the old pages and are not carried into the new file. Resize before adding them, or keep the original alongside.
Can pages have different orientations?
Yes. Match each page keeps an upright page upright and a wide page wide, each on the new size. Choose Portrait or Landscape to force every page one way.
Can I set a custom page size?
Yes. Choose Custom size and type the width and height in millimetres or inches, from about 13 mm up to 5 metres.
Does resizing make the file smaller?
No. The page dimensions change but the content inside is the same, so the file stays about the same size. Use Compress PDF to shrink it.
Is it free?
Yes, completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit.
