How to use Meta Description Generator
- Describe the pageType the title, the meta description, the page URL, the site name and the address of the picture to show when the link is shared.
- Check the previewsSwitch between Desktop and Phone to see where the title and description are cut, read the notes, and adjust the wording until it fits.
- Copy the tagsPress Copy tags and paste them into the head of the page, replacing any existing title and meta tags, or download them as an HTML file.
Type the description and the title and see them as a search result for desktop and for a phone, drawn in the result page's font and cut at the width results are cut, with the character and pixel counts beside the field. Notes point out a description that is too short or too long. The meta tag and the rest of the head tags are written for you to copy. The tool measures and formats; the words are yours, which is what a search engine wants to show.
How it works
Meta Description Generator is a web page that does its work on your own device. Everything you type or choose is worked out by your browser and never sent to a server, so nothing is stored and there is nothing to delete. There is no account, no sign-up and no limit on how often you use it.
Writing a description that gets the click
Say what the page offers in the first sentence, add the one detail that sets it apart, and leave out words the title already says. Write for the person searching, not the engine: the description rarely affects ranking, but it decides whether the result is clicked.
Questions
Why does Google show a different description from mine?
When text on the page matches the search better than the tag, the search engine shows that instead. A specific, honest description that matches what the page is about is used more often.
