How it works

Lumpsum Calculator is a web page that does its work on your own device. Everything you type or choose is worked out by your browser and never sent to a server, so nothing is stored and there is nothing to delete. There is no account, no sign-up and no limit on how often you use it.

The rule of 72

Divide 72 by the yearly return to estimate how many years money takes to double: at 12%, about 6 years. The table here shows the exact figure.

Questions

Is lump sum better than SIP?

It depends on timing and how the market moves after you invest. Money invested sooner has longer to grow, but a SIP avoids putting everything in at a high point.
