How to use JSON to Excel Converter
- Add your JSONPaste it into the box or press Open a file. The rows appear in the preview.
- Pick the rows if askedIf the JSON holds several lists, choose the one you want under Rows from. Excel (.xlsx) is chosen already.
- Download the workbookPress Download Excel and open the file in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.
Open a JSON file or paste an API response and download it as an Excel workbook, not just a CSV. Every record becomes a row and nested values become their own columns, numbers stay numbers and true or false become TRUE and FALSE, and the file opens with a bold, frozen header row, filters switched on and sensible column widths. There are no separator or character-set problems to fix, so accents and symbols appear correctly. The workbook is made in your browser, so your data is never uploaded.
How it works
JSON to Excel Converter is a web page that does its work on your own device. The file you choose is opened by your browser, changed there and saved from there; it is never sent to a server, so there is no copy of it anywhere to delete, no queue and no waiting for an upload. Most online tools of this kind send your file to their servers and work on it there, and many keep it for a while. This one does not. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it, and the result downloads the moment it is ready.
Why an Excel file instead of CSV
A CSV opened in Excel can split on the wrong character, lose leading zeros or garble accents, depending on the computer's settings. An .xlsx file carries its own structure, so it opens the same way everywhere, including in Google Sheets, Numbers and LibreOffice.
Size limits
An Excel sheet holds up to 1,048,576 rows by 16,384 columns, and a cell up to 32,767 characters, according to Microsoft's Excel specifications and limits. Larger data is shortened, with a note; download CSV instead to keep everything.
Questions
Does it work with Google Sheets?
Yes. Upload the .xlsx file to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets, or import it into an existing sheet.
How are nested objects and lists shown?
Nested values get their own columns named with dots, such as address.city. Lists of simple values are joined with semicolons in one cell, and lists of objects are kept as JSON text.
Can I convert JSON Lines to Excel?
Yes. A file with one JSON object on each line is recognised, and each line becomes a row.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The workbook is built in your browser and nothing is sent anywhere.
