How to use File Checksum Checker
- Type or dropPut the text in the box or drop the file on it. Every hash appears in a moment.
- ComparePaste the hash from the download page or the sender into Compare with. The matching row turns green, or the tool says there is no match.
- CopyPress Copy beside the hash you need; tick Upper case if that is how it should be written.
Drop the file you downloaded and paste the checksum the publisher printed, whichever algorithm it is: the tool recognises MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 by their length, computes them all on your device and turns the matching row green. A mismatch means the file is not what was published, whether through a broken download or something worse; get it again from the official source. Files up to 512 MB.
How it works
File Checksum Checker is a web page that does its work on your own device. The file you choose is opened by your browser, changed there and saved from there; it is never sent to a server, so there is no copy of it anywhere to delete, no queue and no waiting for an upload. Most online tools of this kind send your file to their servers and work on it there, and many keep it for a while. This one does not. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it, and the result downloads the moment it is ready.
Where the checksum comes from
Publishers print it on the download page or in a SHA256SUMS file next to the download. Copy it from the official site, not from a mirror, since the point is to compare against what the publisher produced.
Questions
The checksum file has many lines; which one is mine?
