How to use YAML to JSON
- Choose the formatsPick From and To at the top, or leave them and let the tool read what you paste as what it looks like.

Paste a YAML file, such as a workflow, a compose file or an app config, and read it as JSON on the right, indented as you like and optionally with sorted keys. A YAML mistake, usually indentation or a stray tab, is reported with its line and column. Anchors and merge keys are resolved into plain values, and comments are dropped, since JSON has none. Nothing is sent anywhere.
How it works
YAML to JSON is a web page that does its work on your own device. The file you choose is opened by your browser, changed there and saved from there; it is never sent to a server, so there is no copy of it anywhere to delete, no queue and no waiting for an upload. Most online tools of this kind send your file to their servers and work on it there, and many keep it for a while. This one does not. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it, and the result downloads the moment it is ready.
YAML surprises
YAML reads some unquoted words as values: yes and no as booleans in older versions, 1.10 as a number, and a value starting with * as an alias. If a field comes out as the wrong type, quote it in the YAML.
