How to use Reverse GST Calculator
- Choose add or removeAdd GST to a price before tax, or Remove GST from a price that already includes it.
- Type the amount and pick the rateClick 5%, 18% or 40%, or type another rate.
- Read the splitChoose within a state for CGST and SGST or between states for IGST, then copy the breakdown.
Type a price that includes GST, such as an MRP, a quote marked inclusive or a bill total, pick the rate, and see the taxable value before GST and the GST inside it, split into CGST and SGST or shown as IGST. This is what you need to write a tax invoice from an inclusive price or to book a purchase in your accounts.
How it works
Reverse GST Calculator is a web page that does its work on your own device. Everything you type or choose is worked out by your browser and never sent to a server, so nothing is stored and there is nothing to delete. There is no account, no sign-up and no limit on how often you use it.
Why not just take 18% off?
Taking 18% off ₹11,800 gives ₹9,676, which is wrong: the GST was 18% of the price before tax, not of the total. Dividing by 1.18 gives the right ₹10,000.
Questions
Does MRP include GST?
Yes. In India the MRP printed on a packaged product includes all taxes, so remove GST from it to get the taxable value.
