GST Calculator: Add GST to a price or take it out, with the CGST, SGST or IGST split, as you type.

Type an amount, pick 5%, 18%, 40% or any other GST rate, and choose whether to add GST to it or remove GST from an inclusive price. The amount before GST, the GST, its split into CGST and SGST for a sale within a state or IGST for a sale between states, and the total with GST are shown at once, rounded to the paisa, with the working underneath. Copy the breakdown for a quote or an invoice.

How it works

GST Calculator is a web page that does its work on your own device. Everything you type or choose is worked out by your browser and never sent to a server, so nothing is stored and there is nothing to delete. There is no account, no sign-up and no limit on how often you use it.

Straight to one job

Add GST or take it out

Type an amount, pick the GST rate and the page shows the amount before GST, the GST itself, split into CGST and SGST for a sale within a state or shown as IGST for a sale between states, and the total with GST, rounded to the paisa. Switch to Remove GST when you have a price that already includes tax, such as an MRP or a quote marked inclusive, and want the taxable value for an invoice or your books. Copy the breakdown to paste into a quotation, an email or a spreadsheet.

The rates

The 56th GST Council meeting on 3 September 2025 replaced the four main slabs with two, 5% and 18%, and a special 40% rate for a short list of luxury and sin goods, in force from 22 September 2025 under CBIC Notification 9/2025-Central Tax (Rate). A few items keep their own rates, such as 3% on gold and silver and 0.25% on rough diamonds and precious stones, and 12% and 28% still appear on invoices from before the change and on items not yet moved. The rate for a particular product or service depends on its HSN or SAC code, so check the CBIC rate schedule for anything you are not sure of; any rate can be typed in the box.

CGST, SGST and IGST

On a sale within one state or union territory the GST is shared equally between the centre and the state: 18% becomes 9% CGST and 9% SGST, or UTGST in a union territory without a legislature. On a sale from one state to another, or an import, the whole amount is IGST. The total is the same either way; only the heads on the invoice change.

What this tool does not do

  • It does not look up the rate for a product; find its HSN or SAC code first.
  • It does not add compensation cess or TCS.
  • It is not tax advice; for returns and input credit, ask your accountant.

Questions

How do I add GST to a price?

Multiply the price by the rate and divide by 100: 18% GST on ₹10,000 is ₹1,800, so the total is ₹11,800.

How do I remove GST from an inclusive price?

Multiply by 100 and divide by 100 plus the rate: ₹11,800 including 18% GST is ₹11,800 × 100 ÷ 118 = ₹10,000 before GST, so the GST is ₹1,800.

What are the GST rates now?

Since 22 September 2025 the main rates are 5% and 18%, with 40% for a short list of luxury and sin goods, following the 56th GST Council meeting and CBIC Notification 9/2025-Central Tax (Rate), read on 12 October 2026. A few items keep special rates such as 3% and 0.25%. Check your product's HSN or SAC code for its rate.

What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?

Within one state, GST is split equally into central GST and state GST, so 18% is 9% + 9%. Between states, the whole amount is integrated GST. The total tax is the same.

When is UTGST used instead of SGST?

In union territories without their own legislature, such as Chandigarh or Ladakh, the state half is called UTGST.

Why does my total differ by a paisa?

GST is rounded to the paisa here, and the CGST and SGST halves are rounded so that they add up exactly to the total GST. Your billing software may round per item instead.

Does it include cess?

No. Compensation cess and TCS are not included.

Is it free?

Yes, completely free, with no sign-up.
