How to use Discount Calculator
- Find your questionPick the sentence that matches what you want to know, such as From 80 to 100 is a change of.
- Type the numbersFill in the boxes in that sentence. The answer appears on the right as you type.
- Check the workingRead the line under the answer to see how it was worked out.
Type the original price and the discount percentage to see the sale price and the amount saved, worked out as you type. Switch minus to plus for a markup, a tip or tax on top. To check a double discount, such as 20% off and then a further 10%, use the result as the new price and take off the second percentage; it comes to 28% off, not 30%.
How it works
Discount Calculator is a web page that does its work on your own device. Everything you type or choose is worked out by your browser and never sent to a server, so nothing is stored and there is nothing to delete. There is no account, no sign-up and no limit on how often you use it.
Two discounts in a row
1,000 minus 20% is 800, and 800 minus 10% is 720: a total of 28% off. Stacked discounts multiply rather than add.
Questions
How do I find the discount percentage from two prices?
