How to use Campaign URL Builder

Takes about 1 minute. You need the page address and the campaign details.

    1. Paste the addressType or paste the page the campaign links to. A bare domain gets https:// added.
    2. Fill in source and mediumType where the traffic comes from and the kind of channel, then the campaign name and any of term, content and ID.
    3. Copy the linkPress Copy link. It is saved to your recent links on this device, so the next link in the campaign can start from it.
UTM Link Builder: Tag a link with utm_source, medium, campaign and the rest, consistently, every time.

Type the page address and the campaign details and copy a URL tagged for Google Analytics 4: source, medium and campaign name, plus ID, term and content when you use them. Values are lowercased and spaces replaced so the campaign reports on one row, old tags on the address are replaced rather than doubled, and the link is shown in parts for checking. Recent links are kept on this device.

    How it works

Campaign URL Builder is a web page that does its work on your own device. Everything you type or choose is worked out by your browser and never sent to a server, so nothing is stored and there is nothing to delete. There is no account, no sign-up and no limit on how often you use it.

    Where the visit appears

In GA4 the tags show up as Session source, Session medium and Session campaign in the Traffic acquisition report, and the default channel grouping is worked out from source and medium, so email as the medium lands the visit in the Email channel.

    Questions

    Does GA4 need utm_id?

No. It is optional, used to match sessions with imported cost data for a campaign. Source and medium are the ones GA4 needs.
