Common questions
How do I find out who owns a domain?
Look it up here. The registrar is always shown; the owner's name and contact are shown only when the registry publishes them, which most no longer do for privacy. Contact the registrar to reach the owner.
How do I check when a domain expires?
The expiry date and the days left appear at the top of the result, from the registry's own record.
How old is a domain?
The age is worked out from the registration date in the registry's record, shown in years and months.
What does clientTransferProhibited mean?
The registrar has locked the domain against transfer to another registrar. It is a normal protection; the owner can unlock it in their registrar account when they want to move.
Can I look up an IP address?
Yes. Type the address to see the network it belongs to, the organisation, the address range, the country and the abuse contact, from the regional registry.
Is the domain I look up stored?
No. Our server asks the registry and sends the answer back. We only count how many lookups are made, not what was looked up.
