Privacy policy: WHOIS Lookup
Last updated 2026-10-27
What happens when you look up a name
- The domain or address you type is sent to our server, which asks the registry responsible for it and returns the answer to you. It is used for that lookup only and is not stored or logged by us.
- A few registries turn away lookups from servers like ours. Then your browser asks that registry directly for its public record, so the registry sees your connection's address, as it would if you visited its website, and our server reads the record your browser passes back. Nothing is kept.
- To keep the tool available, each connection may make a limited number of lookups per hour; this uses a scrambled code that changes daily and cannot be turned back into your address.
- There is no account and no cookie. We count visits with a code that changes every day and cannot identify you, plus the site that linked you here and your device type, and how many lookups are made each day, never what was looked up.
This page covers WHOIS Lookup only. The site-wide Privacy Policy covers everything else, and the Terms of Use apply to every tool.
