Common questions

How do I convert a time from one time zone to another?

Choose the place the time is in, type the date and time, and read the same moment in each other place. The converter works out the exact moment first, so the date also changes when the time crosses midnight.

What time is 9 am EST in India?

When New York is on standard time (November to March), 9:00 am there is 7:30 pm in India. When New York is on daylight time (March to November), 9:00 am there is 6:30 pm in India. India is UTC+5:30 all year.

What is the difference between EST and EDT?

EST, Eastern Standard Time, is UTC−5 and is used in winter. EDT, Eastern Daylight Time, is UTC−4 and is used from the second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November. Choose New York and the converter uses the right one for the date.

Does it handle daylight saving time?

Yes. It uses the time zone rules built into your browser, so each place changes its clocks on its own dates, and places without daylight saving, such as Arizona, India and Japan, stay the same all year.

How do I find a good meeting time across time zones?

Add every place, then look at Hours side by side. Shaded cells are 9 am to 5 pm on a weekday in that place, and a dot marks the hours that are inside working hours everywhere.

What happens at the hour the clocks change?

When clocks go forward, an hour of clock time is skipped; when they go back, an hour happens twice. The converter says so if you type one of those times.

Is anything sent anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing you choose is sent to us or stored.
