Common questions

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. The PDF is split by your own browser on your own device. It is never sent to our server or anyone else's.

How do I extract specific pages from a PDF?

Choose your PDF, keep Extract pages selected, and type the pages you want, such as 1-3, 5, 9. Press Split PDF and you get one new PDF with just those pages, in the order you typed them.

How do I write page ranges?

Separate pages with commas and use a dash for a range: 2-5 means pages 2 to 5. Leave out the last number to go to the end, so 9- means page 9 onwards, and -4 means pages 1 to 4.

Why do I get a ZIP file?

When a split produces more than one PDF, they are packed into a single ZIP so your browser downloads them in one go instead of asking about each file. Open the ZIP to find the separate PDFs. A split that makes only one PDF downloads as a normal PDF.

Does splitting reduce the quality?

No. Pages are copied exactly as they are, not turned into images, so text stays selectable and searchable and images keep their quality.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Not until the password protection is removed. The tool will tell you if the file is protected.

Are bookmarks, links and form fields kept?

Yes, for the pages each new file contains. Bookmarks point to the right pages, links between included pages keep working (a link to a page that is not in the file is removed), and form fields stay fillable with their values. Digital signatures will no longer be valid, because the document has changed.

Is it free?

Yes, completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on use.

Nothing happens when I pick a file

The tool runs entirely in your browser, so a very old browser can fail silently. Try the current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Your files are never uploaded anywhere.
