The tool reads the paper colour from the edges of the picture and removes it, leaving only the ink, which you can recolour black or blue. Adjust the Cleaning slider until the lines are clean, then download a transparent PNG to place on documents and forms. The photo never leaves your device.
How it works
Signature Background Remover is a web page that does its work on your own device. The file you choose is opened by your browser, changed there and saved from there; it is never sent to a server, so there is no copy of it anywhere to delete, no queue and no waiting for an upload. Most online tools of this kind send your file to their servers and work on it there, and many keep it for a while. This one does not. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on how often you use it, and the result downloads the moment it is ready.
Getting a clean result
Use a dark pen, plain white paper and daylight or a bright lamp, and hold the phone straight above the signature so there are no shadows across it. Crop the photo roughly around the signature first if the page has other writing on it; Crop Image does that in a few seconds.
Questions
Why does grey remain around my signature?
The paper in the photo is darker or uneven, usually from a shadow. Move the Cleaning slider to the right to remove more of it, or take the photo again in brighter, even light.
