Common questions

How do I calculate my GPA?

Turn each letter grade into points (A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = 0), multiply by the course credits, add those grade points up and divide by the total credits. The calculator shows that sum under the result.

What is the difference between weighted and unweighted GPA?

An unweighted GPA uses the same 4.0 scale for every class. A weighted GPA adds a bonus for harder classes, usually 0.5 for honors and 1.0 for AP, IB or dual credit, so it can go above 4.0. Schools choose their own bonuses, so check your school's handbook.

How do I calculate a cumulative GPA?

Add the grade points from every term and divide by all the credits. Here, type the GPA and credits from your transcript under Cumulative GPA and a target, and this term is added to them.

What GPA do I need to raise my GPA to a target?

Type the GPA you want and the credits you still have to take. The calculator works out the average needed over those credits, and says when it is above the top of the scale.

Is an A+ worth 4.0 or 4.3?

It depends on the school. Most US colleges cap the scale at 4.0, and some give an A+ 4.3. Switch A+ counts as to match your school.

Do pass/fail classes count in GPA?

Usually not: a pass earns credit but no grade points, so it is left out of the average. A failed pass/fail class is treated differently by different schools.

Can I convert a percentage to a GPA?

Not reliably: schools draw the line between letters at different percentages. Find your school's letter for each percentage first, then use the letters here.

Is anything sent anywhere?

No. The sums are done in your browser and nothing is stored, so the courses are gone when you close the page.
